Today is the day! You're on your way!

Oh the places we'll go and have been together. Alex and I are jumping into a new adventure together today with our first home. Yep, today is the day we sign the papers and get the keys!! I walked through the house yesterday and it was so great to look at our kitchen and our new bedroom and our backyard! I am so so excited to be on this journey with Alex. If you know me you know that I am not the best at making decisions and this new journey is FULL of them, but with Alex it does not seem like a chore but a great adventure. I am so blessed to be going where I'm going with him by my side. He is a keeper! ;)

Picture Post

I am tired of looking and the bug when I look at my blog so it was really time for a new post. It was going to be a 10 things Thursday but instead it is a pictures post!

This week was my older brother's birthday was this week and a good time was had by all!

Sunday was a beautiful day to spend some time at Shelby farms and nap under a tree.

After little nephew's nap we was happy to hang with aunt Maria while the older ones played.

Oldest nephew took a break from all his new friends at the park for a picture.
Middle nephew (or one of the three year old nephews) was too busy playing "on the monkeys" aka near the monkey bars so here are both three year nephews from the Easter egg hunt a week or so ago.
Here are a few more from the egg hunt!

Intruder in the classroom

Mrs. Thomas is fine with spiders and has been known to kill them without skipping a beat. Being in the portables you have to be ready for these kinds of things. Today we had a large intruder in the classroom and it was no little spider. It looked a little like this:

Mrs. Thomas did what she could to get the intruder trapped under a bowl. Then asked for Dictionaries to put on top just in case. One student asked if it was really that strong.... Not sure but no chances were taken. The intruder was left alone until the Dictionaries were moved....no student has come forward to moving them at this time.
Time to take action.
We got a piece of construction paper to slide between the bowl and the floor. The pest was slid to the door but did not make it over the threshold before he retreated back in the room and Mrs. Thomas yelped. As you can probably imagine, all of the students were gathered around at this point and ready to take over because obviously Mrs. Thomas is not a fan of the pest. Many faces were made and clear instructions were given the the student before the pest ended up back in the bowl with cardboard under it this time. We took no chances and taped it up all around and headed out the the field behind the portables. We made a circle around the pest and picked a quiet and brave student to remove the lid from the cage we created. Mrs. Thomas stepped back and let them all take their turn to stomp until their little hearts were content. The intruder is gone and Mrs. Thomas may make "pest killer" a classroom job next week just to be safe.

If you are a parent.....

Here are some gentle reminders I wish to share

1. Send your child to school even if you "don't have a lot of gas" or "don't have clean clothes"
2. Send your child with more that a Kit-Kat for lunch
3. If you send your child with a note with details for after school plans, please do not expect the teacher to magically know if you change said plans. (p.s. yelling does not get you to the doctor or where ever you are going any faster)
4. If your child comes home talking about being bullied TELL THEM TO TELL THE TEACHER
5. Let your teacher know BEFORE you want them moved from the classroom.
6. Do not say your child doesn't know better when he/she does not follow directions in class (I understand there are exceptions to this rule but be realistic)
7. If your child is on medication then please don't send them to school without it if at all possible.
8. Hug your child more than once a day
9. Tell them they can be whatever they want to be no matter where they came from or poor choices others have made.
10. Be nice to your child's teacher because they spend a LOT of time with your child and they really do care about them too.

In teaching you cannot see the fruit of a day's work. It is invisible and remains so, maybe for twenty years. ~Jacques Barzun <-- I'll try to remenber this as I go into a new day tomorrow.

Seek and you shall find

We found a house!!!! The contract is signed, the house is inspected, the closing date is set. I am so excited to have found one we love so quickly! God's timing is perfect and I wasn't worried about finding the right one because Alex and I knew that if we were to get a house then God would provide. Now it's time to decorate!
